Best Movie Ever!
We all have our own opinion when it comes to movies. Regardless of what major critics tell us, we’re going to like what we like! Take me for example. My top picks consist of “Leon: The Professional,” “The Ninth Gate,” and John Carpenter’s “The Thing.” Naturally not everyone is going to agree with me. Certainly not the AFI! You can expect to see films such as “Citizen Kane,” “Casablanca,” and “Gone with the Wind” toward the top of their list. What’s funny is that you won’t see these flicks voted to the very top of the IMDB’s list. I guess the general public votes differently than more exclusive groups like the AFI. One thing that does stand out about the American Film Institute is that most of their top movie picks are older films. What does this say about them and where film making currently stands?

Freedom of choice — I guess that’s the beauty of America, we all have our own opinion and can choose what we want to see. And as long as we have such versailty within this country, we are going to see all genre’s of movies made, and we are going to continue to support those that we feel are the “best.”

I always find it interesting to see what people like, versus what the critics do. While its inevitable that there will be some overlap, its often the films that aren’t critical successes that stay in our hearts. For me it’s The Breakfast Club - it doesn’t make the critics lists but I’d rather watch it than Citizen Kane any day!

Right on! “The Breakfast Club”" is the BOMB though. That’s definitely an 80s classic.
