Björk Takes High-Tech Instrument on Tour
Björk will use a futuristic new instrument, known as “the reactable,” to deliver a truly unique stage show on her latest tour.
The reactable, created by boffins at Barcelona’s Universitat Pompeu Fabra, features a colorful glowing surface and several blocks. Apparently the blocks make distinctive sounds when moved which reflect the nature of the block and the way it was moved. The user can vary the sound’s pitch, volume and duration depending on how they choose to move each block.
There are only two reactables in the world, but the Icelandic songbird has managed to borrow one for her Volta tour.
“She saw it in action and she had to have it on the tour,” Björk’s technical director Alan Pollard confirmed.

Sounds like this will be an interesting tour, for sure. Sounds pretty high tech as well, so people attending should definitely receive their ‘money’s worth!”
