Book Review: Disney’s My First 1000 Words

If you are looking for a book that will be fun for you and your kids beyond the first few reads, then look up Disney’s My First 1000 Words.

Ideally suited for the 3-6 years age group, this beautifully illustrated book consists of a lot of fodder for interactive discussions with your kids without being overtly educational. Peppered with all their favorite characters from classics like Mickey and Donald to newer characters from Monsters Inc and Toy Story amongst others, this book provides a lot of information in an easy to absorb way.

It has a theme for every page such as vegetables, occupations or flowers. Then with the help of the Disney characters, children learn the names and see the pictures of a variety of words that tie in with that theme.

Which vegetables have you tried? What would you like to be when you grow up? Or name all the flowers that are red are just some ideas to spark a fun discussion.

This book sounds like a really great way to encourage children to learn to read, and start thinking about a range of different topics. Everyone loves Disney too, and it’s wonderful that the new characters are included. This sounds like a winner!
