Authorities contend that when someone leaves their DNA in a public place through flakes of skin, strands of hair or drops of saliva, they give up any expectation of privacy. Practices of following suspected criminals around and collecting these samples has led to many arrests and prosecutions, but it’s also sparking an interesting debate on privacy.
