Funeral For A Friend – Tales Don’t Tell Themselves

Funeral For A Friend’s newest album, Tales Don’t Tell Themselves, may not be what fans of Casually Dressed… and Hours have been waiting the past two years for. The new album’s sound is very unlike their old albums, which were littered with background screaming that helped energize each song. It seems for this album Funeral For A Friend has given up their post-hardcore roots for a calmer rock sound. This release from the UK group is a concept album, meaning it tells a story from beginning to end as you listen to the album – a very interesting concept, one not often encountered when it comes to bands of this genre. With screaming vocals out of the picture will loyal FFAF fans be able to adjust to the new softer side of the band? It’s hard to say for sure but the album is definitely worth a listen at least a few times through. FFAF mixes it up with some slower rock tracks followed by some a bit heavier (don’t get too excited – it’s nowhere close to anything off of Cassually Dressed…) that will keep your interest for a while. All in all, I’m kind of disappointed with this one, nothing special and definitely not up to par for FFAF.

Okay, this is a prime example of your depiction of the album — the title of the article hooked me, I ended up reading through the entire review just to see what you thought, and again, the rating system is most helpful. Good job.
