Keep cool in summer black
Even though the temperature’s rising, you don’t have to give up basic black. Keep cool
this summer in the shadowy hue by remembering these simple hints:
1. Keep it light. Choose airy fabrics like cotton, silk or jersey and forego heavy threads like wool, velvet and leather.
2. Short ‘n’ sweet. If you’re going to wear black, hemlines are best kept short. Floor-skimming dresses and skirts will envelope you in the beating sun, but shorter
lengths snap against smooth summer legs. Pants are still okay, but avoid anything
baggy that carries too much weight.
3. Go strappy. Black is heavy enough in the summertime, and you don’t need clunky
platforms making you even more tired. Try strappy sandals in flats or heels. Metallic
shades in silver or gold pop against the subdued shade.
4. Remember the attitude. Why wear black if you don’t come off a bit mysterious?

Great advice. I just can’t give up the black for summer, especially at night, though I definitely take advantage of the opportunity to wear really bright colors, too!
