Magnetix is a Potentially Dangerous Toy
The popular magnet toy, Magnetix was recalled in March 2006 because a child dies after accidentally swallowing one of the magnetic pieces. Additionally, many children were reported with intestinal injuries after having ingested some of the small parts. Unfortunately, however, many stores are still carrying it.
Although ideally it is a very creative toy which lets children get up from in front of the TV and use their minds to build something. However, because of the strong magnetic attraction of the pieces it can be potentially fatal if swallowed. Even though the manufacturer targets the product at older children; inevitably many households have curious toddlers around as well.

It seems to me if a recall was issued due to a death of a child, this toy should not be sold anywhere — however, it seems stores are still carrying it. Thanks to your article, parents can at least be warned and monitor their children closely. For smaller children that do put things in their mouth, this is something they should not be playing with, so thanks for the information.

Surely recalls should be compulsory and nationwide! It’s so difficult to ensure children don’t get into things, so the age restrictions really are useless. It’s nice to know that there’s some way for parents who have this toy to get their money back. Thanks for alerting us to it!
