Make Your Eyes Pop with Highlighter
You may have heard people mention highlighter on TV and in magazines, but figured it wasn’t for you. Well, it’s a great way to make your eyes stand out, so here are a few tips on how to use it on your eyes.
When choosing your highlighter, be sure that it shimmers rather than sparkles. You really don’t want to use anything sparkly for a highlighter; it will stand out far too much. Also, the product does not actually need to be labeled a “highlighter” to do the trick. In fact, my favorite highlighter is a multiple stick by Nars.
Basically, the point of a highlighter anywhere is to make those areas seem more “forward” and to draw attention to them. The best places to highlight on the eyes are just under the brow, in the inner corners of the eyes, and on the area of the eyelid that is above the pupil. Make sure that the highlighter is not too obvious; you shouldn’t be able to glance in the mirror and see exactly where you applied it. Also, try seeing how it looks in different light. The highlighter may be subtle in the dim light in your bathroom and then be garish in office light.
Give it a try and watch how your eyes pop! Please post and let me know how it works for you!

These are great tips, and I think a highlighter is a great way to accent features without drawing undo attention to the area. The key is however, just as you pointed out, to make sure it is a good highlighter rather than just sparkle.

So true! A touch of white eyeliner works too if you apply it on the inside corner of your eyelid.
