Movie Rentals

I learned something from working in a video store for six years. People love to watch movies. Especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Hordes would shove their way past the clerks and concession stands to reach that new release wall. Unfortunately many would discover that the film they came for is all checked out. I’m sure you can relate to this. Now, the question is; what do you do about it?

You’d be amazed at how furious people become when their desired movie title is all checked out. I’ve seen grown men throw tantrums, teenagers cuss and flip off the employees, and women actually break down and cry. While I do realize films are entertaining, they surely shouldn’t have this impact on us. It’s only a DVD rental for God’s sake. No one exactly died here! No career was put to an end! No child went missing! Could it be that today’s society needs to get their priorities straight? Well, a simple solution is to rent that much sought after DVD at an earlier time in the workweek. Try Tuesday or Wednesday and I’m certain your luck will improve.

Great point! It is JUST a rental, and people need to get their perspectives in place. However, as you point out, with such sites as Netflix, and even Blockbuster going “online” it makes it much easier for some folks to reserve a movie. Besides, if they don’t have what you are looking for, you can’t take your anger out on anyone but the computer! :-)
