Norah Jones, Movie Star
Norah Jones is taking time out from her regular singing gig to promote her first film, My Blueberry Nights, at the Cannes Film Festival.
Jones stars alongside Hollywood heavyweights Jude Law and Natalie Portman in the romantic coming-of-age flick.
Jones jumped at the chance to trade her piano for a chance to work with acclaimed Chinese director Wong Kar Wai.
“I thought, ‘Let’s have lunch, maybe he wants the music,’ and he said: ‘Do you want to be in a movie?’” she gushed. “I said: ‘OK, you’re amazing.’ I really just jumped in with a good feeling of trust for him.
The jazz songstress plays the lead role of Elizabeth, who journeys across America and learns much about herself on the way.
Once the Cannes festivities wrap up Jones plans to return to her day job, continuing to promote her latest international smash, Not Too Late.

Good for her! Landing her first movie roll sounds like a very positive upswing to her career — although it sounds as if she had met with quite a bit of success in her “day” job. I always enjoy hearing about someone who just makes it into the movie industry because it is such a tight industry, and hard for young and up and coming actors to get into. So hurray for Norah!
