Office Appropriate: An alternative to the suit
Let’s face it. Unless you have a job in fashion, your work wardrobe is probably suffering. Getting creative with your clothes is not the easiest thing early in the morning, and just because you love Pucci minidresses, doesn’t mean your boss will. While some offices do maintain strict dress codes, there’s no excuse to leave your fashion sense at home.
Everyone says to invest in a good quality suit for interviews and important conferences or meetings. To give yours a little extra punch, make sure the pants are fitted (but not too tight) and the jacket hits just a little lower than your hip. If you can find a jacket without shoulder pads, grab it. Shoulder pads add bulk and take you straight back to the 80s. It is hard to find a jacket without them, but shoulder pads can be easily removed by a tailor, sleeking up your look.
**Insider’s tip: Do it like a man. Snazz up the monochrome suit and go for mismatched separates. Shop for blazers in the boys’ section of department stores. They’re cheaper and help you flaunt a shrunken, modern fit.
Dresses are an easy and fun alternative to the suit. Office appropriate styles should cover you up, but don’t be afraid of color. If you’d rather wear a dress in a neutral shade, try a bright pair of heels or a snappy cardigan to add some sass and keep you from looking drab.
Simple shifts are great to throw on when you want to look professional but don’t have time to put together an entire ensemble. Layer a white short-sleeved shirt underneath for a modern look, and add a great pair of beads to keep it fun.
Adding a few exciting pieces to your work wardrobe will get you noticed (in the right way). And hey, it may even help give you a reason to wake up so early.

This is great advice! I agree, everyone should possess a suit for such occassions as you outlined above. This is important and you can easily do so without breaking the bank. It’s a good idea and you will find it comes in handy more so than not.

These are really great tips! I’m also glad that I can work from home in my pyjamas, but I certainly remember the headache of choosing an outfit each morning. No one wants to wear the same thing every day, or have to fork out cash for new outfits every week!

Jeans and T-shirts all the way. This is my dress code for work also. I have forgotten about the dress code beyond my home’s walls.
