Pulau Langkawi

Langkawi is made up of 99 islands. It is situated at the Northern Kedah State in Malaysia. Only a few of the islands have people living in them. When low tide comes, the islands come up to 104.Langkawi Island is the largest of the islands. Its population is only 62,000. The sea is the main source of living for the fishermen who are locals. Tourism is the main industry, though.

Kuah is the port and Langkawi’s main town. Duty free shops abound here. Chalets, hotels have sprung up everywhere.

I haven’t visited Langkawi yet. The island has a lot to offer local tourists and tourists from abroad. You can’t lose by picking Langkawi Island as your holiday destination.

Oh, this sound beautiful too! 99 islands, wow! That’s quite a compilation of land — understandable that they survive from the sea and rely on fishing as a main commodity. I found it interesting to note that tourism is their number one industry!
