Sex In Cinema
It’s common these days to see all sorts of sex scenes, sexual overtones, dialogue with sexual connotations and sex-based nudity in films. Even PG-13 movies contain such graphic content. While this means absolutely nothing to some movie goers, others find it offensive and unnecesary.
When is sex and nudity okay in movies? If it has an R rating or higher, is sexual content fine? Or, do some modern films take sexual content too far with graphic “love” scenes and sex blended with violence? This is a tough issue no doubt! Many young movie viewers find sex in cinema appealing and totally acceptable. On the other hand, countless other spectators oppose the use of strong sexual content in today’s films.
So, when it comes down to it, does sex sell entertainment? Would you pay to watch a feature film regardless of the sexual content/nudity issue? Finally, is sexual content and nudity in today’s movies necessary when it doesn’t even contribute to a character’s personality/development or the plot in any way? I suppose regardless of what we say, ample sex and nudity will remain in today’s cinema.
