Stars purposefully leak new album

Set for official release of their fourth LP In Our Bedroom After The War through Canadian lable Arts & Crafts on September 25, the charmed pop group Stars have decided to anticipate the dreaded internet leak and post the entire album for sale on the label’s website three months early. With illegal downloading being the catch-22 that it is – on one hand the album generates less profits every time someone nabs a free share Mp3, but on the other hand an enormous amount of buzz is created that, in turn, leads to greater record sales – Arts & Crafts say they hope this move will help them to capitalize on the inevitable leak.
Whether or not this method will help spark a new wave of marketing, or will simply make illegal downloads more readily available, is yet to be seen. Either way, it is a unique example of one label making the best of a tough situation and attempting to make friends with the demands of a bootleg culture.
