The Popular Gore Factor Bombs!
Surprisingly the new horror/torture feature film entitled “Captivity” bombed at the box office. This modern-day thriller centers on a model, played by Elisha Cuthbert, who’s abducted by a vicious psychopath. While the popularity of this type of film has been no doubt great in recent times, “Captivity” barely raked in a mere 1.5 million on it’s opening weekend. This is atrocious when you consider the fact that it’s released into thousands of movie theaters. I guess movie goers are getting sick of the relentless bood, gore and guts spiel. The funny part is that this film’s release date was bumped twice, and it finally came out on Friday the 13th. This was probably another damaging factor considering other films like “Hostel 2″ were released first. How many ruthless torture/gore flicks can movie viewers really stand at once? Apparently they couldn’t stand this one!
